This Privacy Policy applies to the Typing Rivals mobile application (the "App") created by Acetate Apps ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
WEBSITE TYPING TEST & LEADERBOARD
The website offers a 20-word test without an account. Supabase processes the test words, input events and timing to validate the result. Raw input events are not stored in the leaderboard tables. A random browser identifier helps limit repeated requests; it is not a mobile account.
Only when you choose “Save score” do we publish your chosen username, speed, accuracy and completion time. Results appear for 24 hours after test completion. Only the best result per username and word language is shown. Usernames are not reserved or verified, so avoid personal or sensitive information.
Web test records become eligible for automatic cleanup 48 hours after creation and are removed in batches when new tests are started. During periods without new tests, cleanup may occur later; expired scores are still excluded from the public leaderboard.
Your browser stores your language, theme, last username and a random test identifier. You can remove these through your browser’s site-data settings. Netlify uses the connection’s country information to choose an initial language; you can change it at any time. We do not request GPS permission or send your address to a separate geolocation service.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information to provide a better gaming experience, manage leaderboards, and ensure the security of our services.
a. Personal Information
- Authentication Data: When you sign up, we may collect your email address, username, and password (encrypted) to create your unique player profile.
- User Profile: Any public information you add to your profile, such as a display name or avatar.
b. Gameplay & Usage Data
- Game Statistics: We automatically record data related to your gameplay performance, including Words Per Minute (WPM), accuracy percentages, match history, win/loss ratios, and titles earned.
- League Data: Your ranking, league status, and leaderboard positions are stored and publicly displayed to other players within the App.
c. Device & Technical Data
- Device Identifiers: We collect device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers to assist with crash reporting and bug fixes.
- Log Data: Our servers automatically record standard log information, including your IP address and request timestamps.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- To facilitate real-time multiplayer matches and matchmaking.
- To maintain global and local leaderboards.
- To manage your account and save your progress across devices.
- To analyze usage trends and improve the game mechanics.
- To detect and prevent cheating, fraud, or unauthorized use.
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We may employ third-party companies and services due to the following reasons: to facilitate our Service, to provide the Service on our behalf, or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. We want to inform users that these third parties have access to your Personal Information to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf.
Key third-party service providers we use include:
- Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication, database management, and real-time backend services.
- Google Play Services & Apple Game Center: Used for achievements, leaderboards, and platform-specific features.
- Analytics Providers: We may use tools (such as Firebase Analytics) to monitor system stability and crash reports.
4. DATA RETENTION & DELETION
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
Requesting Data Deletion
You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data. You can do this by:
- Using the "Delete Account" option located within the App's settings menu.
- Submitting a request via our website: Delete Account.
- Contacting us directly at support@typingrivals.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request".
Guest accounts: Because Guest accounts are anonymous, we cannot verify ownership via the web for security reasons. To delete a Guest account, please reinstall the app and follow Settings > Delete Account.
Upon request, we will permanently delete your account and personal data from our active databases, subject to any legal obligations.
5. SECURITY
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
6. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.
7. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
